Cleanup of unusual items brings out scavengers

Name of dead probation officer released
A 48-year-old county probation officer is dead from a gunshot wound. According to Dobson Police Chief Sean Myers, maintenance employees discovered the probation officer dead in his office around 7:30 Wednesday morning. Myers said that James Matty was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound from what they believe was a .40 caliber handgun. • A Mount Airy woman is facing a larceny violation for allegedly taking duct tape from Walmart, according to city police department reports. Chelsea Brook Creed, 23, of 323 W.
