Dobson receives $497,000 grant for town park
DOBSON — The city of Dobson received a grant to build a new town park, worth just under a half a million dollars, $497,000, from The North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. The park is planned for a 2.2 acre site on the corner of West Atkins and South Crutchfield streets. Cross Creek Country Club will be hosting a 40th anniversary party that will be free of charge and open to the public. Cause of blaze determined
The cause of a fire that damaged a Mount Airy restaurant Saturday has been determined. The blaze which broke out at the Chase & Charli Restaurant by the River shortly after noon on Saturday was caused by an electrical short in the attic area above the kitchen, according to the Mount Airy Fire Department.
