Dobson receives $497,000 grant for town park
DOBSON — The city of Dobson received a grant to build a new town park, worth just under a half a million dollars, $497,000, from The North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. The park is planned for a 2.2 acre site on the corner of West Atkins and South Crutchfield streets. Mount Airy property owners will know the fate of their pocketbooks as it relates to the city budget after the 2013-2014 municipal spending plan is released Thursday night. The cause of a fire that damaged a Mount Airy restaurant Saturday has been determined. The blaze which broke out at the Chase & Charli Restaurant by the River shortly after noon on Saturday was caused by an electrical short in the attic area above the kitchen, according to the Mount Airy Fire Department.
