The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has reported the following arrests: • On Feb. 28, Sean Christopher Creed, 24, of S. Flagler Ave., in Flagler Beach, Fla., was arrested and charged with the possession of stolen property, larceny and resisting a public officer. Local man killed in farm accident
Rescue officials were on the scene of a farm accident Saturday afternoon, one they say claimed the life of a 71-year-0ld county man. According to John Shelton, director of Surry County Emergency Services, the man was working on a farm tractor at the time of the accident. “He was working on the tractor when he started it and it rolled over on top of him, pinning him under the tractor,” Shelton said. Fire strikes vacant poultry house
ELKIN — A early morning blaze destroyed a chicken house Thursday, but firefighters kept the flames from spreading to a row of similar structures nearby. The incident was reported at 3:22 a.m. at 214 A.Z. Phillips Road, located off N.C. 268 in the Elkin area.
