PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Mount Airy Bear varsity boys clinched their second victory in a row on Friday and won by 10 points against the North Wilkes Viking boys in the 2012 Communication for Education Holiday Classic at Pilot Mountain Middle School.
Assistant coach Erette Bobbitt said the score ended 65-55 Bears over the Vikings.
Senior Bear point guard Austin Taylor led the scoring effort and racked up 32 points, said Bobbitt.
Taylor displayed strong team leadership on Friday, Bobbitt said.
“This was a player’s win,” said the assistant coach. He said the team as a whole did a great job in areas such as ball possession. Bobbitt said especially in the second half the team did well, when it settled in and made smart decisions.
Bobbitt also credited the Viking team as doing a good job at the classic.
The Bear scorers were: Austin Taylor 32; Khaileel Dailey 11; Carson Mounce had seven points and also contributed five blocks; Isiah Simmons 4; Caleb Horton 4; Pablo Garcia 2; Darius Gwyn 5; and Chris McNeil scored two.
The Bears team won against West Wilkes on Thursday at the holiday classic by score of 74-61.
