American Red Cross phlebotomist Jeanifer Marion congratulates North Surry High School student Keegan Day on being a double donor. In addition to giving one pint of blood, red blood cells from another pint also were taken before plasma and saline solution were pumped back into Keegan’s body.

Senior volunteers Claire Montgomery and Joshua Edwards offer classmate Alex Cooke a choice of snacks. North Surry JROTC cadets assisted students participating in an American Red Cross blood drive Thursday. Cadets helped escort students who participated in the drive for the first time this year.
