PILOT MOUNTAIN — The East Surry boys varsity basketball team lost to the South Stokes Sauras Friday at home.
The score was Sauras 61-54 over the Cardinals. Head Coach Jason Anderson said the team is 6-3 overall.
Anderson said, “I thought we struggled defensively especially on our communication and we had no chemistry.”
The coach said he is not sure what happened to the team Friday night other than the team’s flatness.
With these games inside the conference we cannot get away with that, Anderson said.
“We turned over ball in first half and they came out with intensity and we did not,” said the coach.
Anderson said the half time score was 36-27. The Cardinals outscored the Sauras by two in the third and kept even with them in the fourth as far as scoring. However, Anderson said, they hit some shots and were balanced and contributed a total team effort.
About the Cards’ scoring, Gunter said, “We did do well and scored in a balanced way, but at same time we have got to do something on defense.”
Cards scorers: Drew Alley 15; Tyler Pardue 11; Carson Long 9; Eli Gilbert 6; Scott Meredith 5; Jacob Bowman 4; and Seth Brim 4.
