Captain Andi Moore has scored the most goals so far for the team.
The Mount Airy Lady Bears lost 9-0 to the West Stokes Wildcats on Friday at home and moved to a record of 6-2 overall.
The Wildcats have won the conference the last two years so competition was expected to be tough, said Head Coach Will Hurley.
The coach said his team did not rise to the level of competition he wanted against the Wildcats.
“I feel like we did not show much effort tonight,” said Hurley. “We were not clicking with each other and could not get anything going.”
Hurley tried several scenarios and different positions during the game but never could get back the momentum. This is the third week of three games played in a row by the Bears due mostly to weather and rescheduling. Hurley said play fatigue could have had a factor in the team’s performance.
Goalie Alia Heprin was the bright spot of the game, said Hurley.
“Heprin had 15 good saves and her sister Grace really did a good job, too, she played hard,” said Hurley.
If weather permits, the next game will be at Atkins on Monday and East Surry on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled away. Another against Alleghany is scheduled on Friday at home.
