Surry Central student Kelsey Stanley sings and turns a page of music as Damon Atkins plays guitar. A group calling themselves the Eagle Ensemble directed by Chase Graham sang Christmas songs including “Mary Did You Know” and the “Carol of the Bells” to honor School Superintendent Dr. Ashley Hinson’s upcoming retirement. Hinson also visited Copeland, Rockford, Surry Early College and Central Middle School on Monday.

Surry County Schools Superintendent Dr. Ashley Hinson exits Surry Central High School Monday under the swords of an Air Force JROTC Honor Guard as part of activities honoring the upcoming retirement of Hinson. The celebration included a video recognizing Hinson, singing, a marching band and an Eagle Walk.
