Two officers have joined the ranks of the Mount Airy Police Department, Jerry Hatmaker, left, and Jacob Hiatt, right, who are flanking Police Chief Dale Watson. Hatmaker and Hiatt were sworn in Thursday afternoon at the Municipal Building by Mayor Deborah Cochran. About 55 people attended the ceremony, including family members of the two new officers along with municipal officials, who offered remarks, and members of the city police and fire departments.
