Scotty Hodges talks with Carolinas Chapter of the Silent Service Motorcycle Club member Mike Runkle about his Valkyrie 1500S Motorcycle. The club and the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. group helped stage a benefit bike ride for the Joshua’s Angel Center of the Carolinas, a therapeutic horse center, on Saturday. The center will be taking applications for its Toys for Tots program Oct. 29 at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Yadkinville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Nov. 12 at the KFC in Elkin from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other centers for applications are Feed Saks General Store in Dobson and Dollar General in Boonville.

This is the view of a 16-foot model submarine on exhibit by the Carolina chapter of the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. group. The sub was once used in a wave tank for testing purposes. A World War II Mark 14 torpedo was also on display at Feed Saks in Dobson as part of charity bike ride for the Joshua’s Angel Center. Businesses that helped with the event included Kentucky Fried Chicken in Elkin, Mooresville and Yadkinville, Carolina Carports, Dollar General in Boonville and Feed Saks General Store in Dobson.
