Grayson Vernon, basketball player for the North Surry Greyhounds, will head into the holiday season with the best free-throw percentage in the 1A/2A Northwest Conference this year and is listed in the top 10 in the state of North Carolina in the category of free throw shooting so far.
Vernon’s records an 83 percent average and, according to the high school sports website, www.Maxpreps.com, he has made 54 of 65 attempted free throws.
Vernon’s total recorded statistics for the Hounds so far are 24.8 points per game, 1.2 assists, 7.2 rebounds, .7 steals, .2 blocks, and has recorded the team high in scoring of 149 points.
Vernon sank 21-24 free throws against Mount Airy, giving him an 88 percentage and had his high game of 33 points total.
