Various area agencies and businesses gathered at the welcome center for the annual tourism event, held during North Carolina Tourism Week. Ruth Ealley said she is from South Point, Ohio and she is passing through the area on the way to Myrtle Beach. She was interested in finding out more about Mount Airy and Surry County since she passes through each year on the way to her beach vacation.
Burke Robertson, chairman of the Surry County Tourism Development Association, represented the TDA’s Very Surry campaign at the annual tourism event at the I-77 N.C. Welcome Center. Mount Airy Holiday Inn representatives Jennifer Wilson, left, and General Manager Trudy Willard, were also on hand to assist visitors to the area.
