DOBSON — Mrs. Brenda Jarrell White, 63, of Dobson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Surry County on Jan. 24, 1950, to the late Ellard Vernon “Tom” and Imogene Dezern Jarrell. Mrs. White was a registered nurse since 1971, having retired from UPAC, formerly Elkin Healthcare, Nursing Center. She dedicated her life to serving God, her family and helping others. She attended Salem Fork Baptist Church as long as her health permitted and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Lisa and husband Tracy Johnson and Chris and wife Michelle Cooke White, all of Dobson; her beloved grandchildren, Tyler White, Clara Johnson, Matthew White, Thomas Johnson and twins, Annie and Nicole White; brothers and sister-in-law, Charlie Jarrell of Ararat and Mal and Susan Jarrell of Mount Airy; and two very special friends, Mary Snow and Pat Coalson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan White. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Salem Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Parker and the Rev. Lee Johnson with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. in the church fellowship hall prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the White family.
