DANBURY — Awards were handed out Wednesday night to honor winners of the Northwest 1A/2A regular season volleyball championship conference.
In addition, single player achievementsthroughout the 2012 volleyball season were recognized.
Awards were given for Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, Individual Champion Award and All Conference Players Award and Honorable Mention All Conference.
The North Surry Lady Greyhounds took home the coveted prize of Northwest Conference Champions, after defeating the Golden Eagles in the championship match.
The most outstanding player award of the Northwest Conference Tournament was given to Kristina Rumplasch of North Surry.
The all-tournament team consisted of Surry Central's Meagan Hutson and Kaitlin Kidd and North Surry's Malaya Johnson, Maddison Hawks and Molly Martin.
The Coach of the Year award went to Caleb Gilley of the East Surry Cardinals.
Keri Fulp of the East Surry Cardinals won the NW Player of the Year Award.
Players awarded All Conference recognition were: Mckala Bozman, West Stokes; Keri Fulp, East Surry; Kristina Rumplasch, North Surry; Abby Harris, West Stokes; Malaya Johnson, North Surry; Kendra Johnson, Surry Central; Cassidy Joyner, Surry Central; Kathyrn Beasley, Mount Airy; Bailey Culler, North Surry; Olivia Sheets, East Surry; Alli Nickel, North Stokes; Jessica Brandewise, Bishop McGuinness; Alexa Moorefield, North Stokes; Brittany Lewis, Surry Central; and Sydney Mosley of East Surry.
Players who received honorable mention all conference by coaches were: Maddison Hawks of North Surry; Molly Martin of North Surry; Kaitlin Kidd of Surry Central; Courtney Hegler of Surry Central; Lauren Chesnet of North Stokes; Marley Bollman of North Stokes; Taylor Rothrock of South Stokes; Madison Clary of South Stokes; Cassie Palmer of West Stokes; Brooke Spainhour of West Stokes; Celia Tibbs of Winston-Salem Prep; Deonika Reid of Winston-Salem Prep; Ashley Smith of East Surry; Natalie Hard of Bishop McGuinness; Kacie Markle of East Surry; and Julie Dorosiewiez of Bishop McGuinness.
