Runners, walkers and cyclists of all levels of experience will be gathering this morning on the Ararat River Greenway behind B.H. Tharrington Primary School for the second annual Turkey Day Fun Run.
There is no set distance for the fun run, those participating just walk or run as much or as little as they are willing. A 5K course will be marked off for those who want to participate.
And unlike most fun runs and 5Ks, there is no entry fee for the event being put on by Surry Telephone Membership Corporation. Instead a donation is being accepted to benefit Surry Medical Ministries.
The fun run begins at 9 a.m.
There will be a chance to win a Honey Baked turkey, and coffee, drinks and baked goods will be on hand.
In addition to Surry Telephone, other sponsors include Surry Telephone subsidiaries Piedmont Communications Services Inc. and SurryTV as well as Mount Airy Parks and Recreation Department.
