Arrests

The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has reported the following arrests:

• On Nov. 8, Benjamin Gates Gates, 38, of Hall Street in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with the possession of a weapon by a prisoner. He was booked into the Surry County Jail on a $100 bond.

• On Nov. 8, Jeffrey Alan Boggs, 22, of Ball’s Mill Road in Midland, Va., was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice, felony assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $35,000 bond.

• On Nov. 8, Joseph Patrick Cockerham, 22, of Cook Lane in Pilot Mountain, was arrested and charged with felony larceny, the possession of stolen property and obtaining property under false pretenses. He was booked into the Surry County Jail and released.

• On Nov. 13, Brandon Wiley Goad, 18, of Cherokee Trail in Mount Airy, was arrested and charged with one count of felony larceny, one count of the possession of stolen property and obtaining property under false pretenses, all felonies. He was booked into the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 bond.

Incidents

The following incidents are under investigation by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office:

• On Nov. 12, Shannon Denice Gayleon, 40, of Poor Valley Trail in Lowgap, reported the breaking and entering of her home and the theft of computer equipment. Damage to her home and the stolen items were valued at $550.

• On Nov. 12, Charles William Tickel, 72, of McKinney Road in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of his home and the theft of a four-wheeler, pressure washer and Weed Eater. The items taken were valued at $2,400.

• On Nov. 11, Wesley Terry Edwards, 43, of North Franklin Road in Mount Airy, reported the theft of a 2007 Chevrolet truck valued at $15,000.

• On Nov. 10, James Harrold Montgomery, 74, of Old Baywood Road in Galax, Va., reported the breaking and entering of his 2004 Dodge Intrepid and the theft of dancing shoes, a check book and a set of home keys. The items taken were valued at $71.

• On Nov. 10, Kenneth Ray Gwyn, 49, of Little Mountain Church Road in Ararat, reported the breaking and entering of an outbuilding and the theft of various tools valued at more than $2,700.

• On Nov. 10, employees at Low Price Mart in Pilot Mountain reported the theft of $46.01 in gasoline.

• On Nov. 10, Glenn Monroe Barns, 67, of Smith Road in Mount Airy, reported the breaking and entering of his garage and the theft of tools and three firearms. The items taken were valued at $1,150.

• On Nov. 9, Willie Clayton Kerns, 52, of South Main Street in Mount Airy, reported the theft of a push mower valued at $300.
