MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Earl Ray Snody, 78, of 4140 Westfield Road, Mount Airy, husband of Mrs. Nora Brewer Snody, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at his home. He was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Surry County to the late Powell and Allie Arrington Snody. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from Proctor Silex and was a farmer. Mr. Snody was a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Nora B. Snody of the home; a sister, Frances Jessup of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Snody was preceded in death by a sister, Reva Haymore; and five brothers, Raymond Snody, Otis Snody, G.C. Snody, Frank Snody and Moir Edward (Jack) Snody. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Keith Love. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
