• An Ararat woman was served Wednesday with an outstanding warrant on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, a felony, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. Heather Ann Bedsaul, 23, of 848 Radar Road, was located at The Hollows Motel by police who found after a brief investigation that she was wanted on the drug charge which had been filed on Oct. 1. Bedsaul is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 8.

• A case of identity theft led to someone obtaining an unemployment check belonging to Teodula Martinez, who lives on Collins Farm Road, police were told Monday. The crime actually occurred in August, involving someone using personal information of Martinez to obtain the $454 check at the N.C. Employment Security Commission on West Pine Street, which subsequently was cashed.

• Diane Graham Fenton, 46, of 232 Rockford St., was charged Sunday with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery. Fenton is accused of forging a police report in order to receive 60 percocet tablets from Right Care Clinic on North South Street last Friday. She is free on a $5,000 unsecured bond and is to be in Surry District Court on Nov. 15.

• Property valued at $460 was discovered missing early Sunday from an unsecured 2005 GMC Yukon pickup owned by Dale Larry Draughn, a Beechtree Circle resident. The theft occurred while the vehicle was at Legends Sports Bar, with miscellaneous clothing, a fob (keyless entry device), an ignition key, a ball glove, duffel bags, the vehicle’s registration card and miscellaneous documents stolen. Some of the property, including the clothing, was recovered from the parking lot of the business.

• Charlotte Leigh Reeves, 42, of 199 Poole Circle, Dobson, was cited for larceny Sunday after allegedly concealing teeth-whitening products valued at $74 at Rite Aid on East Lebanon Street. Reeves is slated for an Oct. 30 court appearance.

• Two vehicles were discovered broken into Saturday night in the parking lot of the Mount Airy Post Office on South Main Street, including a 2005 Ford Explorer and 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The victims of the crime were Christy Lynn Shore, a resident of Oak Ridge Place, and Amy Atkins Torres of Siloam. Among the items collectively stolen were pocketbooks, a wallet, nearly $300 in cash, debit cards, house and car keys, a driver’s license and Social Security card. A passenger-side window and driver’s-side window of the vehicles were broken to gain entry, with the damage estimated at $200.

• A larceny was reported on Oct. 11, when a license plate sticker designating the year was stolen from the 1997 Nissan Sentra of Lisa Renee Lowe, a Pigeon Trail resident. The theft occurred in the parking lot of the New Market Crossing shopping center, where Lowe works at the Roses store.
