PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Surry Runnin’ Patriot girls lost their third basketball game this season to the New Garden Friends on Tuesday at the Armfield Civic Center.

The score ended New Garden Friends 65-50. Head Coach Todd Hill said during this meeting the score was better against the team than it had been the previous two times.

Head Coach Todd Hill said, “We let them get away in the first quarter.” He also said that the Surry Runnin’ Patriots could not establish a rhythm on Tuesday.

Hill said the team faced tough opposition in Keniece Purvis, who scored 26 points and had the game high. “She was hard to contain,” Hill said.

On the positive side for the Pats, Hill said they did keep turnovers down and were nearly even in rebounds with New Garden Friends.

Overall, Coach Hill said, “They played hard and I am proud of them.”

The Surry Runnin’ Patriots are scheduled to play the Blue Ridge Panthers away next Tuesday. The schedule is open on Friday, he said.

Patriot scorers were: Joye Harrison 14, Sydney Bedsaul 13, Kaylee Paris 10, Jessica Boyd 5, Camille Fishel 4, Ashley Marshall 2 and Kelsey Cave 2.
