CANA, Va. — Mrs. Alice Ann Dawson Haynes, 68, of Cana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. She was born in Carroll County on March 6, 1944, to the late Cleo Sechrist Dawson and Alph Dawson. She was a homemaker and a devoted member of Cana Baptist Church, where she played piano. She was a woman of strong faith, Alice believed in the love of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She loved her family and always reminded them to hold on to their Christian faith and was always generous to everyone. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 53 years, Clifford Haynes of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Marlene Cagle and Doretta and Timothy Wood, all of Cana; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Darrell Haynes and Tyrone and Tammy Haynes, all of Cana, and Jessie and Mith Haynes of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and James Dalton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph Lendale and Virginia Dawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Elliott Haynes. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Cana Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Vass and the Rev. Timothy Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
