LOWGAP — Mrs. Elizabeth Whitaker Easter, 96, of Lowgap, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Easter was born in Surry County on May 29, 1916, to Robert and Molly Wood Whitaker. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Helen Easter of Mount Airy and Curtis and Cathy Easter and Eldridge and Linda Easter, all of Lowgap; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Liza Chandler and Gladys Creed, both of Mount Airy; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marie Whitaker and Claude and Grace Whitaker, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Easter was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Easter; sons, Warren Easter and Joseph Michael Easter; a granddaughter, Rhonda Easter; a grandson, Mike Easter; five brothers; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
