MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Sarah Cockerham Duncan, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away at her home Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012. Mrs. Duncan was born in McDowell County, W.Va., on July 28, 1926, to the late Walter Samuel and Clara Belle Harden Jarrett. Mrs. Duncan was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are a daughter, Betty Hudson and husband, Tim, of Coldwater, Miss.; two sons, Ronnie Cockerham and Ronnie’s, Darlene, of Mount Airy and Bill Cockerham and wife, Glenda, of Mount Airy; a special nephew and wife, Bobby and Cloann Titan of Mount Airy; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Cockerham; her second husband, Hobart Duncan; two sisters, Thelma Rizzo and Laura Titan; and four brothers, Howard, Oscar, Donald and Earl Jarrett. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jimmy McCraw. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Friday until time of the funeral service at Moody Funeral Home.
