Members of the public are invited to join the Surry County Historical Society as they open the doors of the historic Edwards-Franklin House this Saturday for an old-time Victorian Christmas celebration.
Admission is free to the event, which is scheduled to run from 1 to 5 p.m., according to Annette Ayers, president of the historical society.
Those who attend the event will have the opportunity to experience a traditional Victorian Christmas in Surry County, according to Ayers.
The event will feature native greenery transformed into festive holiday decorations and period furnishings throughout the historic home.
“There will be sweet treats and mulled cider as well,” Ayers said.
Music will be prevalent, according to organizers of the event, as visitors will be able to enjoy Pamala Branscum’s musical offerings on the mountain and hammered dulcimer from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Throughout the day, costumed docents will share local history as they conduct tours of the historic home.
