CANA, Va. — A pedestrian who was struck by a car Wednesday in Cana remained hospitalized Thursday at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem.
Angela Arlene Jones, 47, had been airlifted there after being hit at the site of a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 52 near its intersection with Flower Gap Road.
Jones was in surgery Thursday morning, according to a man answering the telephone in her room, who did not give his name.
“She’s doing pretty good,” he added.
A hospital spokesman could find no official listing for Jones’ condition Thursday.
The woman had traveled to the wreck scene Wednesday morning after learning that her son had been in an accident somewhere in the Cana area. Thinking it was the one involving her son, she got out of her vehicle where the unrelated collision had occurred, and while preparing to leave stepped from behind a fire truck into the path of an oncoming car.
No record could be found of a wreck involving the son.
