The regular Thursday night jam session at the Historic Earle Theatre in downtown Mount Airy took on a holiday tone as musicians staged a traditional “Breaking Up Christmas” music celebration. Audience members were invited to dance if they had an urge to and several audience members flat-footed in front of the stage.

Fiddler Nick McMillian of the band BackStep takes his turn at the microphone. McMillian was joined by fellow band member Michael Motley on banjo for several musical numbers. The Surry Arts Council this year incorporated the regular Thursday night jam session at the Earle Theatre with a “Breaking Up Christmas” celebration.

Guitarist Glenn Craver of Winston-Salem decided to try out the stage at the Earl Theatre Thursday night at “Breaking Up Christmas.” Craver said he’d been in the audience before watching the regular jam sessions at the theater hosted by bass player Tim Chadwick.
