SCHMOYER
MOUNT AIRY — Linford C. Schmoyer, 82, husband of Verne L. (Styer) Schmoyer, of Brenda Drive, Mount Airy, and formerly of Green Lane, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mount Airy. He and his wife were married 62 years on May 10th. Born in Corning, Pa., he was a son of the late George and Katie M. (Moll) Schmoyer and a stepson of the late Hazel (Bowman) Schmoyer. He worked as a well driller for Mayer’s Well Drilling 20 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Pennsburg United Church of Christ. He loved his family and enjoyed visiting the McDonald’s in Mount Airy. Surviving, along with his wife, are two children, Linda D., wife of Paul Romano, of Mount Airy and Barry L. Schmoyer and wife, Kathy, of Green Lane; two sisters, Rose, wife of Wilmer Kline, of Pennsburg, Pa., and Barbara Brunner of Bethlehem, Pa.; sister-in-law, Janet Schmoyer of Pennsburg; four grandchildren, Shawn Kehley and wife, Denise, Teresa, wife of Jimmy Hall, Melissa, wife of Larry Gray France Jr., all of Mount Airy, and Justin Day and wife, Kaitlin, serving in the Navy in South Korea; and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Michael and Emily Kehley, Holdin and Brayden Hall and William and Garrett France, all of Mount Airy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Eschbach and her husband, Willis Eschbach; and two brothers, Jack and Richard Schmoyer. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, Pa., with the Rev. Rebecca Y. Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Pennsburg UCC Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made in his memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
