On Saturday for Veteran’s Day weekend, the Surry County’s Military Support Group is hosting its Support Our Troops First-Ever Pride Ride.

Registration is between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at 13 Bones. Kick-stands will go up at 12 p.m.

Todd Frye, a member of the Surry County’s Military Support Group, said in riding in other area charity rides, he thought this ride would be a great way to honor veterans and soldiers now serving.

“This is a great cause. All proceeds will be used for care packages and needs of our local soldiers. Show your support and have a great time,” said Frye.

The cost to participate is $15 for one rider and $25 for couples. Those who present military identification will receive $5 off the cost of the ride.

“We are having this on Veteran’s Day to honor veterans and to support our troops,” said Frye.

Those who are not participating in the ride but who want to support the cause can pay $10 to attend a concert and dinner at the ride’s stopping point at Cruiser’s on Main Street in Pilot Mountain. Music will be provided by John Shelton’s band Rhythm. Dinner will be provided by the Titan’s of Taste.

“I’d love to see 100 or more bikes out there that day,” said Frye.

Frye also encourages military families to join the Surry County’s Military Support Group the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Sagebrush for dinner. He said it’s a time for those who have loved ones that are serving to fellowship.

Frye’s son Nathan just returned to the states after serving a little more than 10 months in Afghanistan. Nathan Frye and his family are now stationed in Alaska. He will be returning home just before Christmas.

The ride includes stopping at Smokin’ Harley-Davidson. There will be other stops along the way as well, Frye said.
