Russell and Betty Evans Vass, 318 White Pines Country Club Road, Mount Airy, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 10. They were married on Oct. 10, 1959.

Mr. and Mrs. Vass were entertained at a family dinner at the Depot Restaurant in Dobson. Hosting the celebration were their children, Allan and Marsha Vass of Floyd, Va., and Sandra and Ronald Byers of Hamptonville.

They have five grandchildren.

The couple also celebrated with a trip to the Outer Banks.
