SILOAM — A vacant home in the Rockford area was destroyed by fire at 3:19 a.m. Sunday.
Surry County Fire Marshal Doug Jones said the cause of the blaze remains under investigation. He said the structure was destroyed by the fire and appears to have been either a mobile home or a modular home.
He identified the owner of the house as Rose Ann Verrecchio of Rodanthe and said the address of the home was 203 Country Bottoms Trial.
Fire departments from South Surry, CC Camp and Fall Creek of Yadkin, Dobson Rescue Squad and Surry County Emergency Services responded to the scene.
