Carolina Tiger Rescue will be at the Mount Airy Public Library on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. to talk about its work with big cats, and other carnivores.

This program is for all ages.

Angela Llewellyn with the Mount Airy Public Library said she is excited about the group’s visit.

“They are driving from over two hours away, so I’d like to have a big group come hear their talk,” said Llewellyn.

The group needs donations of paper towels, bleach, Dawn dish detergent, latex gloves, industrial-sized spray bottles and cell phones that are no longer in use. Llewellyn said the cell phone donations are used to get donations from a group that reclaims the parts from the phones. And, she said, some parts of cell phones are mined in the rain forest and every donation keeps some of that mining from continuing.

Carolina Tiger Rescue also has animals that eat fruit, and will take donations of bananas, grapes and melons.

While the group rescues and cares for several large animals, not just tigers, they will not be bringing any animals with them for the talk.

“I really admire the work that they do,” said Llewellyn. “There will be lots of interesting stories.”

Donations are not required in order to attend.
