Former major league baseball players teamed with area coaches during a baseball clinic fundraiser held at Fisher River Park in Dobson on Saturday. More than 70 kids turned out for the event, which raised $2,600 for international missions at Salem Baptist Church in Dobson. Former pro players Don Gordon and Danny Sheaffer, pictured here speaking to the group, joined Surry Community College coaches Jamie Lowe and Wayne Edmonds, coach Jeff Edmonds, several Surry Knight players and other volunteers for the event, which also served as an outreach opportunity.
