PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots girls basketball team blasted the Hickory Honey Badgers on Tuesday with a final score of 64-28 during the season home-opener game.

The Surry Home Educators girls basketball team match was played at the Armfield Civic Center, the home of the Runnin’ Patriots.

Runnin’ Patriots Head Coach Todd Hill commented on the girls dominating victory.

“I was pleased that we were beginning to fill the lanes on the pass break better,” he said.

The leading scorers on Tuesday for the Runnin’ Patriots included Kaylee Paris, who scored the game high 22 points. Sydney Bedsaul led as second top scorer with a total of 22 points. Jessica Boyd was the third leading scorer and tossed in 11 for the team victory.

The team will play in the East Coast Tip Off Tournament this weekend at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro.
