MILLERS CREEK — The Surry Central Golden Eagles girls soccer team remained undefeated and clinched yet another shut-out, its fifth of the season, against West Wilkes, winning by a score of 3-0 against the Blackhawks.
The Golden Eagles record is 6-0, and the victory was their second win on the road this season.
Sarah Bruce led the Golden Eagles in scoring with two goals against the Blackhawks. She scored the first goal at 26 minutes and got the final goal at 62 minutes in the second half and was assisted by Haylee Harrison.
Also, in the second half, Golden Eagle Victoria Olchowoj scored in the 47th minute.
Head Coach Matt Richardson said, “We controlled the game tonight, they had a lot of players push back playing and they were playing very defensively. We had to send numbers forward and get some crosses from the outside, and that was basically the story of the game.”
Getting a shut-out defensively is a good win, said Richardson.
The Golden Eagles will play North Surry away at 6 p.m. on Friday.
