MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Ethylene Moorefield Shelton, 81, of Mount Airy, wife of Mr. Paul Shelton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born in Surry County on July 28, 1931, to the late Columbus and Mallie Bryant Moorefield. She was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Paul Shelton of the home; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Diann Shelton of Germanton, Deborah and Greg Simpson of Charlotte and Phil Gandt, Austin, Texas; a grandson, Justin Smith of Advance; a sister, Cora Lee Joyce of Pilot Mountain; and a brother and sister in-law, Ronald and Pat Moorefield of Pilot Mountain. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelton was preceded in death by a daughter, Tensie Lee Shelton Gandt; and a brother, Staymon Moorefield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rusty Reed and the Rev. Mickey Cogdill. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home.
