Runnin’ Pats down Honey Badgers 48-19

HICKORY — The Surry Home Educators girls team got an easy 48-19 win over the Honey Badgers Monday night.

The Runnin’ Patriots jumped on the Hickory Home Educators team 18-2 in the first quarter, according to Coach Todd Hill.

The lead grew to 35-11 at the break before the Runnin’ Pats took their foot off the gas pedal for the second half.

The Honey Badgers actually outscored Surry in the third quarter 6-4, before the visiting team put in a 9-2 fourth quarter for a 29-point margin.

Two players tied for the game high of 14 points: Sydney Bedsaul and Jessica Boyd. Joye Harrison and Kaylee Paris added five each, and Emily Marshall four. Camille Fishel, Krissa Hill and Ashley Marshall all had two.

Boyd led Surry with six rebounds, while Ashley Marshall grabbed five. Boyd also snatched six steals and Paris four. Harrison and Hill handed out three assists each.

Maddie Eads scored seven to lead Hickory.

The Runnin’ Patriots improved to 21-6, 3-0 in the Triad conference. They have clinched the top seed for the league with one last conference game to play Thursday at High Point.

Then Surry hosts Carlisle on Friday.
