PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots beat the State Line Rush of Galax, Va., Friday by a score of 58-42.

“We got back on the winning side,” said Head Coach Todd Hill.

The Runnin’ Patriots improved their season record to 9-1 with the win. After winning the first eight contests, including the Southwest Virginia HomeSchool Tip-off Tournament and the North Carolina Educator’s East Coast Tip-Off Tournament, the Patriots experienced their first loss on Tuesday in a road game at New Garden Friends in Greensboro.

Friday, the Patriots returned to the win column.

Hill said the effort was good but would still like to see more intensity, especially on defense, as the season progresses.

“We have to make better decisions and take another step up,” Hill said.

Sydney Bedsaul led the team in scoring with 23 points, Kaylee Paris hit for 12 points, while Jessica Boyd and Camille Fishel added 9 points each. Point guard Joye Harrison handed out 10 assists.

The Patriots will play Sheets Memorial Tuesday in Lexington and will play their first conference game in High Point on Nov. 26.
