GREENSBORO — The Surry Runnin’ Patriots lost Thursday dropped a 55-51 loss to the Durham Flight Thursday.

Runnin’ Patriots Head Coach Todd Hill said that the team did not box out well and were out rebounded for the first time this year by the larger Flight players.

The team played close through the first half but did not take the pride that must be taken in shutting down tough offensive plays and players, Hill said.

Further, Hill said the team did not effectively do their job on defense and especially against Rebecca Loback, who put up 25 points for the Flight.

“We just could not put a stop on her,” he said.

Jessica Boyd led the scoring for the Patriots, hitting 27 total for the team. Three of Boyd’s shots were three pointers, Hill said.

Other top scorers for the Runnin’ Patriots were: Sydney Bedsaul, eight points; and Joye Harrison and Ashley Marshall with six each.

Harrison also had eight rebounds, and four assists.

The Surry Runnin’ Patriots play Monday night at Gospel Light Christian Academy in Walkertown.
