• William Blaine Wheeler, 24, of 1214 Northridge St., was arrested Sunday on violations of hit and run and driving while license revoked after an investigation of an incident on U.S. 52 in which the driver left the scene. Mount Airy Police Department reports state that Wheeler was taken into custody on Sheep Farm Road and confined in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to be in District Court on Dec. 10. Other details surrounding the hit-and-run incident were not listed.

• Police were told Monday that a white male and white female had left the Tiaquepaque restaurant on Rockford Street without paying for a meal costing $40.

• It was reported Saturday that counterfeit currency had been received at a business on West Pine Street known as Bark Mobile, with the victim listed as EZ Wireless Solutions of the same address. The case involves an unknown individual passing a bogus $20 bill at the business on Sept. 22.

• Brandilyn Renee Hanks, 30, of 461 Inman Road, was arrested last Wednesday on a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretense. Hanks had come to the police station to provide information on an unrelated case, and while there it was learned she had an unserved warrant for the false-pretense violation which had been issued on Sept. 28. No other details were available on the alleged offense, which police records indicate occurred outside the city’s jurisdiction, in Pilot Mountain. Hanks was confined in the county jail under a $5,000 secured bond, with a Nov. 19 court date set.

• A break-in was discovered last Wednesday at Bannertown Baptist Church on Westfield Road, where a door was entered to gain entry and enable the theft of food items. Damage occurred to a door glass and window screen, with no figure given for it or the property loss.

• Dustin Corey Griffith, a resident of Pooh Trail, had his wallet stolen last Wednesday after leaving it on a coin exchanger at Lady Bug Laundry on North South Street. It was said to contain $370 along with debit, identification and business cards.

• Thousands of dollars in damage was discovered on Oct. 2 at a residence on Broad Street, where fixtures and other property valued at nearly $500 also were stolen. Damages estimated at $8,000 occurred to interior walls of the basement and linoleum bathroom flooring as a result of the crime, which involved the theft of a Frigidaire dishwasher, kitchen and bathroom faucets, a Ryobi four-cycle weed trimmer, a Murray push mower and two gas cans. The victim is listed as William Cornelius Properties in Winston-Salem.

• Billie Jo George Stanley, 73, of 2332 Red Brush Road, was cited for concealment of merchandise at Dollar General on North Andy Griffith Parkway on Oct. 2. Stanley, who is accused of concealing sweatpants, is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 7.

• Bobby Dwain Johnson, 21, of 334 Phillips Road, Dobson, was charged with giving false information to police and driving while license revoked as the result of a crash investigation on Starlite Road on Oct. 2. Johnson allegedly provided the false name of Matthew Jarret Johnson, and later gave his correct name and was found to be driving after revocation of his license. Johnson’s District Court date was set for Oct. 31.

• The Mount Airy ABC Store was the scene of a theft on Oct. 2, when an unknown party stole a fifth of Junior Johnson Cherry Moonshine, valued at $22, from a shelf and left without paying.

• A case of indecent exposure occurred on Oct. 1 at the intersection of Rockford and Worth streets, where an unknown suspect exposed himself to Katherine Spencer Griffin of Leonard Road.

• A larceny was reported on Oct. 1 at WilcoHess on West Pine Street, where an unknown suspect concealed an alcoholic beverage in clothing and left without paying.

• A loss totaling $12,500 was reported on Sept. 27 at BTP Enterprises Inc. on Fowler Road, where the inner components of two air-conditioning units, a 5-ton and a 10-ton, were removed.
