• A breaking and entering has caused damage to a Mount Airy parts business in recent days, according to city police department reports. The crime was discovered Saturday night at Auto Supply Co. Inc. on Starlite Road, where a glass door was broken to gain entry. Nothing was listed as missing, but the damage was estimated at $450.

• Jose Tyrone Gwyn, 36, of 217 McCarther Road, is facing a second-degree trespassing violation arising from the investigation of a domestic disturbance late Sunday at a residence on Hadley Street, from which he had been banned in February, according to police records. Gwyn, who allegedly was found hiding in a closet, is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Sept. 20.

• Jerrod Freeman White, 26, of 118 New Wesley Drive, Dobson, was served Saturday with criminal summonses on offenses of injury to personal property and second-degree trespassing, which had been issued in July with Juanita Noah, a Booker Street resident, as the complainant.

• A case involving financial transaction card fraud was reported Friday by Judy Quesinberry Hiatt of Fowler Road, which involved someone using a stolen credit card for unauthorized purchases at Walmart, which is listed as the victim of the crime. Two transactions totaling $316 were listed. In late July, Hiatt had been the victim of a vehicular break-in on Merita Street in which items including a credit card were stolen.

• Kenneth Dale Easter, 52, of 117 Leland Lane, was cited for larceny Friday at Walmart, where he allegedly took office supplies valued at $34. Easter is slated for a Sept. 4 appearance in Surry District Court.

• A felony hit-and-run accident occurred last Thursday night, involving an unknown suspect striking a moped on U.S. 601 at Forrest Drive and leaving the scene. The victim was identified as Gary Allen Lewis Jr., a resident of North Main Street in Dobson. Lewis was taken to the hospital, but the extent of any injuries he might have suffered was unclear. No charges have been reported in the case.
