• Alleged threats by a Mount Airy man to shoot someone at Veterans Memorial Park led to a driving while impaired violation against him, according to city police department reports. Michael Grant Myers, 57, of 681 N. Franklin Road, was stopped at the park by police after someone reported that he had made the threats, and the DWI offense was filed after a brief investigation. Myers was released under a $2,500 unsecured bond and is slated for an Oct. 23 appearance in Surry District Court.

• Jimmy Cole Pike, 23, of 112 Westwood Drive, was arrested Friday on felony charges of larceny and possession of stolen property which had been issued by Stokes County authorities on June 7, and an attempted larceny violation filed in Surry County on July 6. Pike was taken into custody after police found him hiding under a bed at the Westwood Drive address, which is the home of his grandmother. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $3,500 secured bond and is to be in District Court in Danbury today.

• A break-in of a motor vehicle was reported Friday, involving a 2003 Ford Explorer owned by Judy Hiatt Quesinberry, a Fowler Road resident. The crime occurred while the vehicle was at an unidentified business at 755 Merita St., with a window broken to gain entry. A wallet was stolen from the SUV along with $100 in cash, a checkbook from the State Employees Credit Union, a MasterCard credit card, a driver’s license and a camera bag. Damage to the window was put at $200.

• A case of financial transaction card fraud occurred on July 24, with Wells Fargo Bank as the victim. The crime, reported by Debra Watson Slate of Venable Farm Road, involved someone using a stolen debit card to obtain about $50 in goods or money at Four Brothers Food Store on Holly Springs Road.
