• Fishing equipment valued at $1,550 was reported stolen Sunday from a vehicle at the Twelve Oaks assisted living center on Galax Trail, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. Twenty rods and reels of various models and colors were taken from the bed of a 1987 Nissan pickup owned by Olivia Gwyn Dalton of Cana, Va., an employee of the center.

• Lisa Ann Martinez, 46, of 260 Turner Spur Road, Fancy Gap, Va., was jailed under a $4,300 secured bond early Monday on active warrants for arrest, including one for allegedly failing to appear in court in Surry County, and also was found to be driving while her license was revoked. Martinez, who was taken into custody on Greenhill Road near U.S. 52, is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Oct. 23.

• Servando Pineda-Ramos, 32, of Newton, was arrested early Sunday on a charge of assault on a female after allegedly striking a woman from Ennice, Tracy Pauline Mahan, in the head with a closed fist while at the Cumbia Mix nightspot on West Pine Street. Minor injuries are said to have resulted. Pineda-Ramos was released under a $1,000 secured bond and is to be in District Court on Aug. 21.

• A case of defrauding an innkeeper occurred Saturday night at the 13 Bones restaurant on South Andy Griffith Parkway. Unknown individuals are said to have eaten dinner and left without paying for various food items valued at $56. The case was still under investigation at last report.

• Damages of $1,200 were reported to a Mount Airy business during a break-in last week. The crime occurred early Friday at Smokin’ Tobacco Pipes and More on West Lebanon Street. Someone broke a window to gain entry, with cigarettes the only item listed as stolen.

• Courtney Danielle Smith, 19, of 149 Sage Creek Trail, was cited for concealment/shoplifting Thursday at Walmart, involving merchandise valued at $84. Smith is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Sept. 4.

• Gary Billy Ruiz-Garcia, 30, of Liberty, was cited for shoplifting Thursday at Sheetz on Rockford Street, where he allegedly took candy. Ruiz-Garcia is slated for a Sept. 12 District Court appearance.

• A larceny occurred Thursday at the Red Barn laundromat on Worth Street, where a blanket valued at $150 was stolen from a dryer. Fabiola Urquyza, an employee of the business, is listed as the victim of the crime.
