- Ashtin Nichole Matthews, 19, of 487 Slate Road, was served Thursday with a warrant on a charge of financial card fraud which had been issued on Oct. 9. No other details were listed regarding the misdemeanor offense, for which Matthews was released under a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 16.

- Two people were cited Thursday night on concealment charges after allegedly being found with merchandise stuffed in their pants at Lowes Foods. John Wesley Snider, 19, of 161 Becky Lane, and Steven Gregory Fulk, 20, of 167 Pleasant Drive, are scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Dec. 14.

- Darlene Parish Littleton, 42, of 126 Justin Lane, was cited for concealment of merchandise Thursday after she allegedly was observed placing items valued at $41 in her purse by the manager of Dollar General on Rockford Street. Littleton’s appearance in District Court is set for Dec. 7.

- Also Thursday, a larceny was reported at Great American Printing on South Main Street, where copper tubing was stolen from an oil barrel. The case is listed as open for further investigation.

- Police were told Monday that a known individual attempted to sell a gun at the What Do You Want pawnshop on West Lebanon Street which a national crime database listed as stolen. The handgun valued at $250, which was recovered, is the property of Walter Michael Flinchum of Elizabeth Drive. The case is listed as open for further investigation.

- James Christopher Nettles, 43, of 315 W. Pine St., was arrested on a larceny charge Monday after allegedly taking merchandise from Lowes Foods. Nettles was confined in the Surry County Jail in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond and is scheduled to be in District Court on Dec. 4.

- A break-in was reported Sunday at the residence of Carolyn Ann Bobbitt on Pittman Street, where a known individual is said to have broken a basement window to gain entry. The suspect is a 36-year-old white male, but no arrest had been made at last report.

- An attempted break-in was reported Sunday at the home of Kelly Sawyers Hicks on Willis Road. Someone used an unknown tool in trying to gain entry through a side door, but was unsuccessful. The case remains open for further investigation.

- A breaking and entering was reported on Oct. 30, which actually had occurred in late July at Reeves Community Center, where the larceny of a safe was attempted. A key was used to gain entry to the building. The case was under investigation at last report, but there is no explanation for the delay in reporting it to police.

- A case of embezzlement was reported on Oct. 29 at Advanced Electronics on U.S. 52, involving the theft of a Nokia flip telephone valued at $106 by an employee. The case was still under investigation at last report.

- A break-in and larceny involving a vehicle was discovered on Oct. 30 at the residence of Ann Kathrine Welch on Cynthia Drive. Welch’s debit cards, credit cards, driver’s license and Social Security card were taken from her unsecured 2007 GMC Acadia. The incident remains open for further investigation.

- A larceny occurred at Bottom Dollar Foods on Oct. 30, in which the wallet of Kathleen Mays Draughn, a Mays Street resident, was stolen from her purse. A check, $105 in cash and medication cards were among the items contained in the wallet. The case remains open for further investigation.
