1. Why are you running for commissioner?

Answer: When I left office in 2005, we had a surplus close to $1 million. The town has financial trouble with taxes and water bills that went up. That’s what the people are saying all over town. I would ask to go over each department, and delete some spending. With our water, we need to grow our infrastructure and sell our water in Westfield and Shoals.

2. What could the town be doing to stimulate economic development that it isn’t doing already?

Answer: We already have the Economic Development Partnership in Surry County. If elected, I would see what I can do to set up a tourist committee and see what we can do to draw more people to town.

3. What do you think the town should do to get its financial problems under control?

Answer: Work with each of the department heads and work on deleting our spending.

4. What are your goals if elected?

Answer: My goal is to work diligently and to be honest. I have experience and know the budget. I’m ready to go back to work.

5. What do you like best about Pilot Mountain?

Answer: The people. I think the people and our businesses are our greatest asset. You’ve got to have people to be able to sell the water.

6. Do you see any problems with the town? And if you feel there are problems, how do you plan to fix them?

Answer: I see a vision of us growing and working together.
