Northern Hospital of Surry County President and Chief Executive Officer Bill James accepts an award from Healthgrades, ranking Northern Hospital as one of the 100 best hospitals in the nation in two categories, Critical Care and General Surgery. In Critical Care, the hospital is ranked as No. 1 in North Carolina. According to a Healthgrades.com representative, this ranking makes Northern Hospital a five-star hospital, which means those who receive care have a 75 percent lower risk of dying than at a one-star hospital.
