KING — The Lady Greyhounds beat West Stokes 3-0 in volleyball on the road Tuesday.

North Surry improved to 21-1 and 13-0 in the Northwest, but Coach Shane Slate wasn’t pleased with what he believes is a regression in focus.

“We had a stretch of three matches week before last where we did not commit a lot of unforced errors,” said Slate. “But, the last three or four matches we have slid back to a pattern where our focus is lacking at times.

“We need to concentrate on better positioning and reading the action so we can eliminate more of those errors,” he said.

The Hounds won the three sets 25-19, 25-18 and 25-16.

“We served the ball well and our attackers were solid at the net after the first set,” said Slate.

Malaya Johnson led the way with 11 kills, followed by Molly Martin with nine and Alex Cooke with eight. Bailey Culler set up the front line with 33 assists.

Maddison Hawks led the team with 15 digs and Martin 10.

Erin March had eight blocks, and Taylor Hill six.

Johnson went 15-15 serving with an ace, and Hill was 12-12 with an ace.

The Hounds host Bishop McGuinness today on Senior Night. The varsity will begin about 6 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. after the J.V. game.
