SPARTA — North Surry swept Alleghany on the road 3-0 Monday night.

The Lady Greyhounds volleyball team has three matches in each of the last three weeks of the season and began with a win over the Lady Trojans 25-15, 25-13 and 25-20.

Because of the long ride back, Coach Shane Slate didn’t have statistics for the match.

In the Hounds’ last outing, North Surry beat South Stokes in straight sets last Thursday in Walnut Cove.

“We committed the least amount of unforced errors of the season against South Stokes,” Slate said, “and it really allowed us to control the match from start to finish.”

The Hounds won 25-12, 25-11 and 25-11.

“The good ball control ensured that our height advantage at the net was taken advantage of all evening,” he said.

In that match, Rumplasch led the team with nine kills, and Hill had seven.

Hill provided a dozen digs, while Hawks had seven.

Culler dished out 32 assists, while Johnson blocked seven hits.

At the service line, Hawks was 21-23 with two aces, and Rumplasch was 17-19 with four aces.

North Surry has three matches this week. Today they host North Stokes, then on Thursday they host Mount Airy.
