North Surry High School’s Lady Greyhounds bested Winston-Salem Prep in a doublebill of volleyball matches on Wednesday.

The victories lift the Lady Hounds to 10-0 in Northwest Conference action.

“They (Winston-Salem) are only in their third year of a program,” said North Coach Shane Slate. “We did a good job of making adjustments to handle the out passes and rebound placement”

The Greyhounds took the lead early in the first set of the first match and didn’t look back on the way to a 25-12 win. The Lady hounds followed that with another 25-12 score in the second and iced the match with a 25-7 win in the third set.

The second match saw the Lady Hounds continue their winning ways en route to a 25-11 victory to open the second match of the double header. North Surry followed that with a 25-12 victory in the second set and finished out with a 25-13 win in the final frame.

Play will continue today as North Surry hosts West Stokes. The jayvee game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and varsity play will follow.
