DOBSON — Surry Central split its singles matches with North Stokes, but couldn’t take any doubles matches in a 6-3 loss.

The Lady Eagles won spots 1, 5 and 6, while the Lady Vikings took 2, 3 and 4. The teams were tied 3-3 going into doubles, but the Eagles were down a player by then.

Kennedy Dockery turned her ankle in the second set against Hannah Mabe, according to Coach Dennis Miller.

She fought through the rest of a 2-6, 3-6 loss, but sat out doubles play. Partner Mikayla Cox played with Cassie Hoge instead. The two played well, but lost to Brittany Foley and Emily Myers 6-10.

Savannah Wilson and Megan Gillespie lost 4-10 to Rebecca Gunter and Mallie Ziglar.

Marlee Wilmoth and Sommer Chilton fell 4-10 to Mabe and Miranda Hammonds.

In singles play, Wilson took the top spot 6-2, 6-3 over Gunter.

Wilmoth fell to Ziglar 0-6, 1-6. Gillespie lost to Hammonds 3-6, 5-7.

Cox won the fifth-place match 6-2, 6-3 over Foley. Abby Samuels won the sixth spot over Myers 6-4, 7-5.

Cox and Samuels have come through in several matches this year, noted Miller.

The Golden Eagles host Wilkes Central Monday in a nonconference match.
