MOUNT AIRY — Ms. Lillian Janice Rau Holcomb, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center. Ms. Holcomb was born in Amityville, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1936, to Ralph Edwin and Elizabeth Chichester Rau. She was a graduate of Duke University, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Buffy and Steve Fussell of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Bucky and Kim Holcomb also of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Chip Fussell and wife Jenn, Drew Fussell and wife Kellye, Bryce Holcomb, Blair Holcomb and Elise Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Graylyn and Trey; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Di Rau of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a special friend and helper, Carolyn George. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Pyatt. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church at 1909 N.
